I got a new set of coils, tested them with multimeter - and they all failed. Have been using them over 1 month already, redlining daily, no problems in idling nor redlining...

what i am saying is that i have doubled checked it with two different diagnostic tools.

I switch the check engine light off and it comes up with same codes.
Both diagnostics show the same.
I ve sent an ime to linearlogic (scangauge2) and they told me that these codes for this car model means Coils A & C circuit, just like the second handheld diagnostic tool that i have used.

You used the wrong polarity on the multimeter.

my mm readings:

as in https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...9&postcount=27

A-B around 1.6kOHM
B-C open circuit (this is abnormal acc. to the workshop manual)
C-A open circuit

and after finally succeeding to start the car, my scanner (OBDScan-APEX) didn't find any codes... and the car still runs nicely

Either your B-C check was done with the VOM in the wrong polarity or incorrectly via some other means because an open in that position will absolutely stop the coil dead.

63k on my '04 manual. I started the motor last week and it sounded like there was a hole in the muffler or something and the Check-Engine light came on. The engine smoothed out when it warmed-up, but the dealer said the coils were shot.

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/rx-8-technical-info-cel-codes-pcm-pin-list-collision-guide-26291/

those are the codes we have for the rx8 in the usa... i thought we have been here before..

as a note i dont know of anyone getting a code for a bad coil that is was makes it so hard to diagnose.

I have my car at the dealership replacing the engine...yea engine flood. well they just called me and said the coils are not covered under warranty. So they want to charge me $319 for parts, installation, labor, and taxes.
My question is would it be bad if I drove my vehicle 4 miles from the dealership to my house and just replaced them myself?
They said my coils are bad....I just want to know if those 4 miles is going to damage my car...
Thx!

No... Im sure they were bad for many more miles before the 4 youll have to drive it home, and no harm was done then.
