ON clutch kit questions?

i need to get a new clutch kit for my rx8 and im just uncertain which one to go with. If i get a clutch kit, is there anything else that i need to buy in addition to this clutch kit?, like ive been reading that i need a fly wheel and a counter weight?

can anyone clarify this situation, and maybe even make a recommendation to which one i should purchase, and even what i need to purchase?

thanks alot

If you change the flywheel to a non-OEM one you will need a counterweight for most ( you can tell...if you need one the flywheel won't be able to connect to the end of the eccentric shaft)

If you just replace the clutch with an OEM compatable one you do not need to replace the flywheel..and therefore don't need a counterweight

If you are replacing the clutch...you should replace the pilot bearing and seal and the throwout bearing as well....

I'm doing my clutch kit soon too. Just got my act streetlite flywheel & counterweight. The CW is the only way the new flywheel bolts to the engine. its best to change the F/W when putting in a new clutch. I'm going to use the Exedy stage two clutch.

The stock fly wheel is pretty good anyways you really don't need to replace IMO. Clutch kits can be pretty cheap if you know how to search the web! Try Andy's auto sport or eBay. Helpful hint: the exedy stage 1 kit (the oem clutch) goes for about 300 bucks but it's like 150-200 on eBay. Ask for labor prices as its different everywhere. Mazda will charge you over 500 easy to put it in and your local mechanic may be a lot cheaper! Good luck
