Yeah, I'm guessing that resurfacing could be the culprit. At high RPM's I'd expect the uneven surface stresses to be amplified a great deal. This might explain the unwanted chatter too.

I guess I'm going to have to pull this flywheel off. Sigh. I'll have to figure out how to get the needed torque, both for getting the nut free and then getting the right installation torque later.
No lift so no room under the car for long bars, and no power tools.
It might actually be easier to pull the engine...

Charles R Hill made comments in other threads on this forum about shimming the pressure plate when installing an Exedy clutch. I never understood why, but maybe he'll have some insight on this failure and how to avoid in the future.
