Clutch bracket broke and was re-welded but still haveing problems.... Please help

So my clutch pedal bracket finally broke just like the countless other owners in the forum. I had it welded and it seems to be fine now. Before this happened I had this exact noise....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_74EbdtQnQ

and after I welded it i still have this noise. I suspect the clutch master cylinder.

Does anyone know what this is coming from, it seems to get worse the more I drive and you can start to hear it and feel it through the pedal as soon as it starts to warm up.

Please help! its been driving me crazy for months now

Thanks

PM Charles R. Hill. He makes a replacement clutch pedal and bracket that is stronger. This is a common problem.

assuming its properly welded, i doubt that's the problem

have you tried lubing the assembly?
mine does the same thing, i just apply some grease and it goes away for awhile

oh, and i replaced my master after it started leaking.
had the same sound before and after

Thanks for the advice I'll try lubing it but its not just the noise, you can really feel it through the pedal, was yours the same way?

there is a tiny bit of moisture that can come in over time which is why those spot welds die out they get slightly rusty.

you can get some pb baster and spray the push rod and springs and assembly be careful not to hit the sensors.

If that doesn't do it your SOL...

if you mean you can feel the creaky-ness, then yes.

you really need to get a clutch bracket.

welding only bandaids the issue and puts it back to new stock. but, the problem with that is, the stock form is the issue.

you really need to get a fluid motorsports bracket.

it will clean shifting up for you.

check my sig.

welding is NOT a bandaid, it's a permanent solution if done properly. I'll take a good weld over some mickey mouse bracket any day.

i am not affiliated in any with fluid motorsports. im just on a personal crusade to not having rx8 owners clutch pedal assemblies snap on them. i didnt even buy mine from them. i bought mine from dannobre (a member here) who bought the bracket from mazsport. (the original designer.)

they are simply the current maker of the bracket.

and you are right. welding is totally a permanent solution. if you are welding on a little tube frame chassis to the assembly. :P imo, the metal is part of the issue. the bracket eliminates the stress on the welds and reinforces the metal.

i just ordered something from BHR. and if i like it. you'll probably see me go on a crusade about that product too. just part of me as a person.

well i took the pedal out and greased everything and it is still doing it. It sounds like it is coming from under the car. Im guessing its the slave cylinder or the fork arm or something. Its odd that it doesn't do it all the time and only does it when the car starts to warm up. Any suggestions?

i had the same exact noise for about 2 weeks and today finally the welds gave in and my bracket snapped off...Im buying a new pedal w/ fluids bracket....I thought it was the master/slave cylinders but guess it was the bracket still.

The bracket only provides strength against lateral movements of the clutch pedal and does little to protect against the vertical movement which is how the failures occur. The issue is not the metal itself but rather the weak welds. Fix the welding issue and the assembly is fine.

Not to mention the bracket requires modifcation of the clutch assembly.

OP, it's possible a couple things might have happened. Either the welds were done poorly and didn't solve the issue or the pedal was simply beyond saving when it was repaired. While uncommon, we (BHR) have been made aware that there's a point where a broken pedal cannot be repaired.

Under the circumstances I would obtain a new assembly. If you can find another place to do the welding that you know has a solid reputation I'd attempt it as well.

I would take the welds over the brackets in any moment. The problem is that reinforcement welds on thin metal are not easy, that's why you have to go to a reputable shop or ask Charles about one!
He is so correct that he refused to sell me his complete pedal knowing that i could have my own pedal welded here in Rome for less anyway
I tried a car with the bracket for comparison and there's a huge difference in longitudinal stiffness between the two products, the lateral one is pretty much the same considering that the pedal assembly is not just a couple of welds but has got some reinforcements applied.
