Clearing NV RAM

There is a new service bulletin for clearing the eccentric shaft position sensor data.

This data is stored in a seperate area of the ECU called "non-volitile RAM". NV RAM is not cleared with a simple CEL code clear or a battery disconnect.

Since the repair procedure for reseting the eccentric shaft sensor is to clear NV RAM.......My question is what else is stored in NV RAM? What affects will this have on the relearn mode?...Especially on Canzoomer"s Stage 1 already installed.

When you get a CEL and then "reset" it by a battery disconnect........it only really resets the light on the dash display. The code is still stored which can only be reset with a CAN protocol scan tool. With NV RAM however, the clear procedure is just tapping the brake pedal 20 times with the ignition in the "on" position, engine off.

There doesnt seem to be any reason to unless your still getting erroneous CEL's.

This bulletin is for when major work has been done to the engine (including total replacement) and the actual eccentric shaft position doesnt match what the computer thinks it should be. This sets of "misfire" codes. So a dump of all the data in NV RAM will solve this particular issue.

What I was wondering was what other data is lost and reobtained after this procedure is done.

I wonder what the "L" Calibration is. I suppose it is a MNAO thing anyway.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I think you have to push it 20 times in 8 seconds. That was the bulletin I read. I watched the tech do it on my car when they replaced my engine.
