Check this picture out! My first experience with DIY spark plugs!
So, a few weeks ago I had the dealer change my secondary sutter valve. My car would hesitate as I let into the aceleration/ CEL was on. Dealer said that I would need to change my SSV. Cool, i have an extra $500 to spare since I paid off my car. I get my car back from the dealer and less than a week later my CEL is back on and it's having a hard time starting / ruff idle/ power loss / what I thought was classic ignition coils ready to bite the big one! Yay! Needless to say I have been reading how to change my coils/ spark plugs/ wires here on the boards. And I was like "I can ******* do that!". In fact I love working on my 8! Before changing the aforementioned, all I have done to my 8 was change the oil, replace the parking, and door lights. I was super stoked to be working on my motor with the aide of my friends who know how to work on cars better than I. So as i start to remove the plastic protective cover to access the spark plugs I see this

sooooo i guess I should have changed my spark plugs/ wires sooner! the stock wires fall off after a while! and now I have an extra pair of coils too cuz the ones that were in there were still good. my friend checked them at his Diesel mechanics class.

but now my 8 has this whine (for lack of a better word). I was hopping to find out was it is from all the post on the "whine" but that was wishful thinking. Runs great tho!

I'm not, it's their job to get money out of you, not fix the problem quickly and cheap. At the dealer fixing things by the process of elimination is common.
OP,
I'm glad you are taking ownership and doing it yourself, way to man up.
hey guys sorry for the late reply. My Car is 2004 with 75,000 miles on it. since post this I have changed the front and rear gear oil with royal purple. the "whine" stopped for a day then came right back. My car still runs great but this "whine" is really concerning.
Question: How much is too much for The dealer to diagnose a car? I want to have them diagnosis this "whine" already so hopefully I can fix it.
