3 weeks or so ago, CEL came on, went to autozone, came up with Code PO456, evap leak-very small. Checked gas cap, was tight, so i retightened and had them clear the code. A week later, CEL came back, went to autozone, same code, so I replaced the gas cap with a new one from Autozone. That was about 4 days ago. This afternoon leaving for lunch, turned the key forward, and it's back! I haven't gone to confirm if it's the same code yet, but I assume it's the same. Is there anything else that can throw this code? I have an 04' manual, with a little under 20k miles. It behaves perfect, I've noticed no difference in performance whatsoever, no abnormal sounds, nothing. Any help would be appreciated. I've done much searching, and haven't found much other than people fixing the problem with a simple new gas cap... Unless I'm missing something. In which case I apologise.

 

Any leak in the evap system can bring that on. There are at least two TSBs on this, with the cause ranging from the gas cap to a faulty filler neck.

Search the forum for P0455. That turns up several evap leak posts/threads. One poor guy had a leak because he accidentally drove a screw into the evap system while installing a speaker.
