CEL on after replacing coils, SP and Wires
CEL is ON after i changed my coils, spark plugs and wires. Light is keep coming back after resetting it. My cars WOF is due by next week and they wont pass it with the light ON. What can i do to get rid of it.
Your code issue is directly related to a communication error.
You are using a scanner to pull the codes that is not fully compatible with the rx-8s pcm.
It's giving false codes because it is not compatible. Find one that is.
However, I think you are going to find that you are having 4 misfire codes.
I'm assuming you reset the PCM after the install? Even though I don't think this would cause the codes to be issued, you should do it.

I realize that you are in NZ, but having said the above........................if that doesn't work, then you must have messed up the install(got something backwards, or not plugged up correctly), that's my guess???
I need to be careful here since you are in NZ, but see the attached pics(as just a guide).
Can't be 100% sure this would match your car since you didn't say what year it was?
Check everything you did, the "Reset the PCM" and if that doesn't do it, then................
List us the exact stuff you replaced................with make and numbers.

Triple sure that the coils are plugged into the harness the right way and that the coils are connected to the right spark plugs?
What if you put all the old pieces back in?
Don't see how an oil change can throw a CEL, there are no sensors that trip a code except the OMP.

i have double checked. the coils are connected to spark plug in the right way
Didn't happen to loosen any grounds when doing the coils and forget to put it back did you?
You're gonna have to check every little thing you did and make sure you haven't missed anything.
I have heard of OEM coils being bad right out of the box(brand new), but I'd be hard pressed to see how all four could be bad at once. I need to go read from the top again and then maybe I can point you in the next best direction to head?

Those codes just relate to the coils, if you are using non factory coils on a JDM RX8, then its common for these codes to come up. The coils will be working fine, but the CEL light will stay on.
When I changed my coils to D-585 coils the same codes come up and its just one of those things that happen. Everything still works fine though.
If you are near Hamilton area, you could contact Brettus who might be able to help you hide the Cel code for you for a resonable fee.
