No i have a warranty. My car doesn't even have 40,000 miles on it, I can't understand why it needs a new motor and has all these problems. How would the new motor be worse than the one I have currently?
The one thing that should have been looked at is the fuel pump. You can keep that in your back pocket for now. If after the new motor is installed, its still having troubles, have them start looking over the entire fuel system. BC. |

No real way to answer that until they have it installed.

Heh. The oil debate is something of a religious war here. And the weight /type of oil doesn't really have an impact on the engine failure methods. Take a look at post #9 in the first thread link in my signature for how your engine can fail, and what you can do about it.

Honestly, Pennzoil is a great oil.
I use it in my car, and am perfectly happy with it. As long as you change it at a regular interval, check it every couple of tanks of gas, and top it off when it wants more, you're doing the best you can. BC. |

It's sad that this is the Dealer mentality and it's almost always the case, instead of actually diagnosing the problem properly they just throw parts at it until it's fixed.
Hope they get everything straightened out for you. but on the brighter side they will get it fixed and it wont cost this guy nothing |
'This guy' has a user name of 'clarissa', and mentions a boyfriend...

I hope that when they put in the new engine, and the problem is still not fixed, they don't try to put the burden of the engine cost on you saying you authorized the install.

I hope not either :/ |
btw right next to the quote button, there is a button with " and a +, its a multiquote button. When you are done selecting people to quote, just select the quote button as usual on the last person you marked and it will automatically quote all of the people you marked.

I spoke to Mazda and they said my motor should be in soon. They said they're putting a remanufactured motor that's "like" that of a 2008. Um..."like?"
|
He just means a re-manufactured series 1 engine (series 1 is 2004 to 2008). 2009 - 2012 had a bunch of engine changes.
|
Re-man time!

Nothing to worry about, honestly.

Oh ok. He also said something about the apex seals being different as well.
I've been "informed" of all sorts of crazy wacky things about my 8 by mechanics out there in the past 5 years. Usually it's pointless to argue with them or try to correct them, so I end up doing the 'smile and nod' and ignore them other than for laughs. Stick to the forum here for the right info :) Still some people here that can/will/do give bad info or bad advice, but since it's 'public', we see it and everyone else can usually correct it before harm is done. |

He just doesn't know enough about what he is talking about. Our apex seals were never a problem.
