You may have flooded it. Try the deflooding procedure in the manual.

Find a buddy to push start it for you. Its much better and faster to start it like this.

Stay on a Level Street
Turn the key to on (Dont even bother to start it, just leave it at on)
Put your car in N
Find the STrongest Buddy and Push the car from behind so the car move forward (or maybe 2 buddies) till it reach maybe 5 mph (not that hard)
Dump the gear to 1, Hold your Clutch and give it a little gas like when you first try to learn how to drive a stick. and let the clutch go slowly

If its done right(and fast enough) your car will start, why push start cuz is better than Mazda's since it wouldnt hurt your Catalyst Converter much.

I've done it on autos (other cars)... It's not the classiest way but it gets the job done I suppose. So yeah... try reading the manual. It explains the easiest deflooding procedure. When you hold the throttle all the way down the computer will cut fuel (built-in deflooding code), so when you turn the key to start you'll (hopefully) burn out all the fuel that's in there. It's worked for me and it's much easier than any other procedure (taking out the spark plugs). It will take more than 10 seconds usually to start firing though, so don't get discouraged.

It's probably flooded. Make sure they check your plugs. They may need to be replaced...and they're not cheap. They should be covered under warranty. Also make sure they check to see if you have the latest pcm flash and updated battery and starter motor. There is a TSB for this search around this forum and you'll find the TSB link.

Not to worry. Just make sure you don't shut the car down until it is completely warmed up in the future.

Didn't mean to sound accusatory. Strange that it cut out when it's an auto though. I'd be curious as to why that happened. Maybe the dealer can explain. Let us know what they say.

that's why you should have listened to us and not taken it to the dealer, but live and learn!
