Well that doesn't sound like a fuel pump if you have the opposite problem...

I suppose we'll have to see what happens when they put the new motor in. It should run like a brand new car when you get it back from the dealer. If you have any problems with it make sure you bring it right back to them.

Yeah +1. Didn't Canada get the 8yr/100K warranty. Isn't it Mazda North America handing that out?

According to the document it's Mazda North America which should include Canada unless you guys seceded from the continent.

Definitely bring this back to your dealer and ask them to honor the warranty. Or call MNAO and ask them first to make sure. that way there is no debate.

Easier still;
Is there a reddish glow from under your car at night?
Can you heat a sammich in the drink console?

Seriously though, a clogged cat will get very hot.

turns out my car has a 'rebuild' title so mazda north america will not cover it under the factory warranty.

sucks ***.
?? What is the story on the rebuilt title? Did you know that when you purchased the car?

In that case contact Paul at Mazmart on this forum for parts and contact Charles R. Hill for engine swap help. Charles can work with you about what you need to get done and possibly even fly up to help swap the motor in your garage if you pay him

Granted the car has lots of miles and could do with a swap if the engine is original, but I dont see here where there is a definite need to replace it. None of the obvious stuff was checked it seems. Flooding is hardly a reason to claim engine failure.

I would also want to see said coolant in the cat before signing over big bucks for an engine. Again, just my cynical, skeptical two cents.

people have told me that i could get my money back but it was last summer that i bought the car. so i figured it has been too long to make a complaint.

(i never drove in winters either)
Wow. That's Shady as hell. Was this a dealer or private party? If it's a dealer I would definitely be bringing the car back now that it may need a new motor. Also if it doesn't have a clean title it will make it harder to resell and who knows why it is a rebuild/salvage. That's should be a huge issue for you and the guy should take it back.

I'm not sure how it works in CA. I'm pretty sure with a private sale you're on your own. But it probably doesn't hurt to consult with a lawyer to see if you have a case.

Either way I would try to find him to see if you can find out why it's a rebuild title. If there is structural damage to the car what he did may be illegal. The DMV should have his contact information from your bill of sale/title.

That should not have caused the car to have a rebuild title. I'm sorry to hear that.
