Hey so I posted an ad on Kijiji looking for people that may be selling or wrecked their Rx8s locally that my be interested in selling some after market parts off of. I just got a call tonight from a guy looking to sell his totalled RX8 for $500 he says everything under the hood is good, its an 2004 (same year as mine) with 104,000 kms. Would it matter if its standard or auto? (mine is standard), I am just looking at it as a perfect opportunity to get a spare motor to have rebuilt and ported to prepare for a turbo. What should I be looking at or considering to see if its still good or worth bothering with?

Auto and 5 speed have a different intake manifold - try to get a 6 speed engine....

It is a standard (called him back to ask) and I am going to assume its a 6 as they didn't sell the 5 speed in Canada as far as I know and it is also a GT.

OK, your location is Canada.

Not really any way to check the motor if you can't run a compression test - but it's hard to wrong with a price of $500! You could sell the stock HID headlights and washers for close to that...
