Buying an RX-8 again.

First off, I had my first RX-8 in 2005 and I loved the hell out of it. I regret to this day selling it.

Fast forward to now. I just had my 04 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged stolen, it was recovered...but feels tainted now.

I tracked down an 04 RX-8 on the internet for sale. It has 65K miles on it, all ign systems were replaced last year along with the water pump. The thing looks great, just has some door dings and whatnot. My main area of concern is a CEL, but he said he hollowed out the catalytic converter and it is the O2 sensor giving the alarm. I will have the car scanned to verify.

What else should I be looking out for? It seems very good from my eye. Asking price is 9K with a little room to negotiate.

see if you can get a compression test. Say that you'll split the cost if it passes (usually $100-200, depending on dealer lol)
Check the VIN and find if went through all of the applicable upgrades.
Also, see if the owner can track down all oil changes/ service records. This will help you later if you need to use the engine warranty.

Good luck and (hopefully) welcome back
