Bogging, rich Help - Replacement suggestions??

I have an RX-8 with 115K miles. I bought it around 100k miles. When I first start it and go to drive, it's really boggy. It almost dies. I have to almost slip the clutch, or rev it up before engaging the clutch.

I'm going to replace the cat. The check engine light came on and it's throwing a code for the cat. I was looking at getting this one: 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 Mazda RX8 Catalytic Converter Mandrel Bent | eBay - Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or recommendations?

Also, I wanted to see if the boggyness before it's warm is just due to the cat, or if it could be due to plugs and coils. I haven't changed them. I did find this NGK set: Ignition Coil NGK Wire Set Mazda RX 8 2004 2009 BWD | eBay Any thoughts on this as well? Should I wait to see how it is after replacing the cat, before coils and plugs?

Once it's warm it runs great, other than running rich, which I would excpect since the cat is toast.

Thanks

Have you read this whole thread?

Exactly what code is it throwing? Definitely do NOT buy that Ebay "cat".

Yeah I just found this: https://www.rx8club.com/aftermarket-...s-cats-210330/

Basically I was look for the best, least-expensive catalytic converter replacement. If there are any other suggestions other than what is on the above linked page that would be great.

What about the NGK set I linked? Any good?

Change the ignition coils and plugs as well. They probably took out the cat.

Will-do! Is that NGK set I linked any good? Or should I use RockAuto.com or another site?

Also, any other recommendations on a cat replacement at a lower cost, that's not linked above, would be much appreciated. Thanks

Advance Auto sells ignition coils that are just fine, cheaper than mazda. They also sell plugs. You can get plugs at amazon.com too, just make sure to get the correct plugs. You can get wires at lots of places, I got mine at autopartswarehouse.com

As far as I can tell, that NGK set does not include plugs. I always get mine from RaceRoots since I get their stuff in a day or two. Plus you know you're getting the correct plugs.

You still haven't said if you've read this entire thread: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...t-here-202454/

From what you've said so far I can tell you'll learn a lot.

+1 for Advance Auto Parts
(got plugs/wires/coils for under $200 shipped to store)

I am also trouble shooting mine with similar problem/mileage. I've had mine 6 months

There is a TON of useful info on this forum. Start with the "new owner" threads and build on that (lots of useful links in those threads)

Trying searching like this from Google:

keywords here followed by site: rx8club.com

for example:

cat delete midpipe site: rx8club.com

Good luck. Let us know what you arrive at.
