What other kind of engine related parts commonly fail on the RX8 such as sensors, pumps, relays, belts, etc. ?

I have an 04 6MT by the way.

spark plugs should be checked every 15k - 25k
Catalytic sometimes fails early but it's covered by warranty so no worries there

not much else

Coolant overflow bottle, mainly it's coolant level sensor (integrated into tank). Really nothing else to worry about. Just do regular maintenance and you should be just fine.

I've seen quite a few problems with the Tranny... nothing too major... but some here and there.

engine, transmission, sun visors, cat.

you can mitigate most of it though if you maintain the car properly and don't live in AZ.

the clutch does look kinda flimsy, but mine never had any problems. I wonder if people are just pushing on it at odd angles or something.

they use electronic timer on the 8, so Im not sure where that ticking sound comes from.

look under your car and see if u can find any thing, if u see some blue or red or white wire, take a wire cutter out and cut one, just to see what happens

failures? hmmm, let's see ...

my coils have been fine thus far (furiously knocking on wood now), but i plan to change them next anyway. far as failures go, does the front main seal count?
