Automatic Rx8 - Horrible Noise
Well this is actually my mothers rx8, but it really is not doing good, and hasnt since she has gotten it. Usually, in high rpms, it sounds like a cracking noise. Mostly in first gear. Well now, its been happeniing in all gears, at all rpms. Sometimes i think it has something to do with the heat. Today, it was 100 degres out, and this car was having a lot of trouble. At 1 stop light, i had it floored in first, and would barley go. Again, it kept doing the cracking, ticking, loud noise. Not sure what to do, any ideas or simillar problems.

I'm going to assume that they wouldn't have totally ignored the engine oil light. If it was completely out it would've siezed(I believe). I'm thinking it might be a bad cat????? BTW...........What year is it? I'm almost afraid to ask that one!

The Professor
too many problems to list. take it to a dealer.
how many miles does it have on it? how many miles has she had it?
has she performed the routine maintenance? of adding oil 1qt per 1000 miles? and redlining it daily?

The car is pratically brand new, I do her oil changes myself, and keep up on them. I guess the stealership said they replaced the engine awhile ago because the (correct me if I am wrong, cant exactly remember) O-ring was bad. So they gave us a new engine, it was under warranty. The car is a 2005, with about 12,000 miles on it. God guys, I wish my mom knew how to drive a manual, this car wouldn't have many problems lol.
She will drive it like a old man, but when I drive it I usually have to pedal to the floor (sorry)... But I never have redlined it really.
