NY Anyone Use Royal Purple motor oil on their 8 ??

I know Mazda and some people dont recommend the use of synthetic oil on an RX8 but I have been on the FAQS page on the Royal Purple website and they talk about how they don't know why mazda makes such a statement and that their oil is actually great to use on this car and will have no bad effects on a rotary engine etc.....

Want to know if any of you guys use it and what kind of results you have gotten from it ? Also I know 5w-20 is what is recommended in the US but have any of you guys used 5w-30 ?

Thanks!

10w40 Royal purple this go around. May change to a lighter weight next time since I started premixing.

1. nice thread revive
2. premixing shouldn't have any bearing on your oil weight
3. RP is overrated and in my own experiences always lost its viscosity during a 3000mi interval when compared to less expensive oils.

old skool FTW meant something else entirely.

RP oil is definitely overrated and overpriced. I use Mobil1

Their MAX ATF is good stuff though. I've stuck with it through two 30,000 mile transmission flushes.

Don't use their manual transmission stuff though. It kills the MT.

For the past year or so I've been using RP 10-30. It's so hot at the moment I decided to go with a case of RP 10-40 HPS. Next change I'm probably switching back to Amsoil 0-30 Signature Series for good.

Royal Purple runs just fine, I ran 5-30 through the winter. But I've moved to a 0W40 Mobil 1 synthetic due to the synthetic oil thread - many users have had their oil tested and showed 0W40 M1 was a very good oil (for N/A applications as far as I know).
I do suggest use of synthetic as Mazda Japan condones the use of 0W30 synthetic (although starting issues may occur). I have had no issues with startup*
Also, I feel as if there was some performance gains as well. But don't quote me on that
