At some point during the early years of frequent battery swapping, the positive-lead terminator deformed out of a circle shape and won't clamp properly on the battery post.

As an ugly fix, I put a screw into it and coated it in grease. It works, but it will eventually corrode.

I need to replace the terminal on the positive lead. Does this require a whole new cable, or can you get just the terminal itself? Is this a common part to replace? If so, anyone got a link to an aftermarket part?

Mazda wants $35 for it which seems crazy.

I just used one from Advance Auto when I installed a kill switch. Haven't had any problems with it and was easy as pie. Only problem was radio/temp/clock didn't work when I reconnected everything. Just unhooked the battery overnight and the next morning everything was working again. (Bought a float and forgot to use it Duh) 2nd time this happened and only thing I have found concerning this is that some of the newer cars have a feature that kills communication of systems for short time as preventive measure against thieves??? Not sure just know it works!

Cheap as dirt and looked like it would do the trick.

 

replaced mine with a gold one from advanced but it was a little too wide. 2 min. on the grinder and it fit perfect

 

Is that for the whole cable, of just the clamp? If it's just the clamp, yes, that's crazy. If it's the whole cable, it's a little steep but IMHO inthe long run better than just replacing the clamp.

For the "terminal" mazda has 3 options.

- just the c0ntact part that connects the battery and the fuse.
- with brand new fuse box everything
- the whole battery harness

For the record, the above is for positive only. There is no replacement part from mazda for the negative, only option is to buy a new harness, find a used one, or go aftermarket. Mazda, are you retarded?

lol Gotta give credit where it is due tho, everything I am doing is cause this site gives awesome info on everything about my baby!
