Any relationship between mpg's and reliability?
My original 2004 engine always averaged around 17-18 mpg, both when new and 80,000 miles later when it failed the compression test.
With the same exact commute and driving style, my replacement engine is averaging 21.3 mpg.
That's a pretty substantial difference! That's not all highway miles either, it's suburban/rural roads with numerous stop signs, traffic jams and hills. So I'm just wondering if the good (for an 8) mileage means anything re: the internal health and longevity of the replacement engine?

I have the exact same numbers
I used to make on average 375km with my old engine on 50L which is 18mpg
Ive had 2 fillups with my new engine and I made 430km on 50L (22mpg)
Hope it stays this way. I didnt know the 8 could be fuel efficient!
