Another compression test thread

Got mine tested today at a dealer (Ramsey in Des Moines, IA). I also found out I'll be needing a new battery, which is why the RPM's are low.

Rotor 1

216 RPM, 6.3, 6.4, 6.3

Rotor 2

211 RPM, 6.2, 6.1, 6.2

I think these are on the low side, and from what it shows on the paperwork it is below minimum (6.9). Dealer actually came out and told me it had "great compression"! Yeah right! I looked at him and said, not by these numbers it doesn't. They told me I will need to call Mazda North America to get the ball rolling on any kind of warranty replacement, did they just brush me off or is that the procedure?

You guys think I've got a problem engine? I have til March 19th on the engine warranty.

Here are attached pictures of the paperwork for compression and battery test:

Used the RX8 compression test calculator for Android to convert those into projected readings at 250RPM and got these results:

Rotor 1:

7.1, 7.2, 7.1

Rotor 2:

7.12, 7.02, 7.12

The dealer gets the ball rolling, not you. Search the many other low compression threads for the chart from the FSM.

Definitely, I found it when I was searching around here about three weeks ago. That was when I first got wind that the warranty was extended and that I should get it checked beforehand. Just bought the 2004 that I have about 2 months ago and now has 19,000 miles on it. I imagine it sat for periods of time without driving.

I did absorb quite a bit of knowledge on the subject of compression in my travels around the site. I will do some searching again, in the mean time if anyone sees this and has other helpful info, opinions, or guidance feel free to speak up or ask me questions if you need more info. Thank You to every here, this site is an invaluable resource and I have learned so much already even in the short time I've been an owner!
