Amemiya Headers
Does anyone know of anyone or has personally experienced the headers that Amemiya has put out recently for the 8? If so fill me in, I am considering buying them but they are quite steep but hp costs $ so I may be willing considering the gains. Please chime in if you have any type of info. Thanks as always to the best car forum on the net!

I was thinking of having a set custom made by one of the best, but I heard that headers don't do much if anything for a rotary. Wonder if there is any truth to that.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
Quick question about the 4-port motor:
I know that the siamesed port in the 6-port engine leads to complicated header design for decent power gains, but am I correct in assuming that the 4-port motor would not have this problem, and a more conventional header design would work? Learning as I go here .

ok, again, search. please stop attatching value soley to brand names without knowing how or why a product would be worth what you're paying for it. thank you. that kind of mentality is tolerated only in the "aftermarket" section (which is why i seldom frequent there).
the 4 port motors still have the siamesed exhaust ports in the intermediate housing, and this is the reason that the tuned length headers which Amemiya has produced and certainly other companies will produce won't be very effective: the middle runner is the wrong length. for intimate technical details consult rotarygod's writings.
don't worry about a header, especially when:
A) it's after a list of other things which are cheaper and more important to change with this motor if you're looking for power ...
and...
B) when they're largely ineffective as it is anyways.
waste of a few hundred dollars. get a canzoomer instead.

Factory engine tuning is much more advanced than it was in the 80s - for performance tuned engines, the manufacturers have left much less on the table for the old standard intake and headers to gain. Further, without ECU tuning (a la Canzoomer), even if you could improve the breathing in and out, you won't make much more power.

this is why Maurice is very on top of things, where you can download new codes for your piggy back, not to mention he's developping a computer with near stand-alone capability.
