air valve switch?

Recently I was coming home from a short trip. the temperature was close to 100 deg . Unusual for East Tn. My A/C had been on for 2hrs at highway speed. when I came to a town and idled in traffic for about 10 mins my car lost power. It was as if half the engine was dead even with the A/C turned off..I could press the accelerator to the floor and barely gain speed. unless I was going down hill. My cell light had been on for 3 days waiting for my appt. to the Mazda dealership. The next day I headed to the dealership and the car seemed to run fine. They told me that the intake valve switch had gone bad. They also told me that the valve was not opening all the way causing my engine to starve for air. They said that the valve was supposed to open fully at 6000 rpm. They replaced the switch and now it runs fine again. It seems to me if the switch was bad that the car would not have ran fine the next day. I am more inclined to think that the valve was sticking because of the very hot weather due to heat expansion. If that is the case then I could have the same problem again . Can one of you rotor experts explain to me how the intake reacts to throttle position on a rotary? Has anyone else had this issue?

If the switch was flaky, that could definitely be the cause of an intermittent issue. The old 6 port 13B's had vacuum solenoids that rotated rotary sleeve valves for the aux intake ports. I believe the Renesis uses electrically actuated Butterfly valves. I seriously doubt the ambient temp cause enough heat expansion to stick the valves. The engine is much hotter than 100F most of the time. The heat build up under the hood more likely caused an already flaky switch to go TU until it cooled down.
