Air bag connectors underneath the seats
So my airbag light came on today and thanks to the forum I quickly figured out it is most likely the connectors under the seats. I went to unplug them and plug them back in but I could not figure out how to unplug First of all, the passenger one was like impossible to reach hidden behind the metal rails on which the seat slides back and forth which made me wonder if when you guys say to do this plug-out/plug-in business you mean to take the seat out first?
But then, my driver side one was just freely hanging underneath the seat. While it was still kind of awkward to reach, I was able to play around with it a little. Could not possibly disconnect it though. I did not get a great look, but it looked like there was some sort of a plastic cover on it that would not let it disconnect without tearing it. This car has had the airbags open due to running over an animal about 4 years ago, before I owned it. Do you guys think that it is possible the guy fixing the airbags to have put something on top of these connectors not to let them unplug?
After fiddling with it for a while, though I decided to start up the engine again to see if I've made any progress and the light was off ... however I for sure did not manage to fully disconnect/reconnect. Why would it go off if I was not able to fully reset the system?
