Aftermarket Cat/CEL

Dropped off our RX8 at the dealer some time ago with issues, they came back that the cat needed to be replaced ($2200 quote), I opted to have a local shop construct a midpipe for $150, which sadly did not fix the problem.
Anyway, my question is, the exhaust shop I use utilizes Magnaflow universal cats, and I can have one installed for another $150....trying to sell the car, would like to have the CEL out to speed that up. Any reason a typical universal cat wouldn't get the CEL to go out, assuming the second O2 sensor was placed either in the cat, or after it, depending on the model used? And given size I need to get up to before this will work?

I sirched, no luck, sorry if it's a repeat.

rotaries burn through universal cats very quickly. putting another magnaflow on will likely do nothing.

research the rp supercat - you may be able to eliminate the cel with that.

really though the best way is to get an oem cat, see if you can find a used one.

Any ideas on how long it'd last? Honestly, at this point, I'd be happy with a few thousand miles. Car has been a nightmare for the past few years, just ready to send it on down the road. Selling it for quite a bit less than it's worth, but that CEL is annoying me, and I know it'll annoy a buyer.

I'll ask the obvious. How many miles on this car and are you in the US?
You know you have an 8 year 80k mile warranty on the CAT right?

Yes, I took the car in originally at 82k. They wouldn't warranty it.

Car is at 95k now, yes I am in the US. Pretty much SOL for a warrantied replacement.
