After market radiator caps
I have used the search button with no real success. I am trying to find out if there is any benefit to using one of these radiator caps that raise the pressure. Thanks in advance for your help.

I see someone picked up a street mag this month ....thats all they seem to be talking about....anyways there are plenty of caps out there right now for the 8 to increase pressure well over 20 psi.......I actually purchased one two months ago to get ready for overheating this summer ((texas)) , can't say its working, but I can definately say I haven't overheated even on hard runs. I know Greddy makes a cap for about 19 psi thats pretty cheap, im sure you can find one on ebay.
I guess people don't talk about it because its not a big appearance factor and it doesn't add psuedo-Horse Power like some other upgrades here...
however im pretty sure that its a pretty good and cheap investment to keep your fluids in your car and out of the air
*EDIT*
By the way I have a Re-amemiya cap that was designed for FC's ...the 8's Re-amemiya cap only holds .9 bar's ...definately nowhere near the 19 psi or so by greddy

The cooling jackets in the engine castings may get hot spots, in which coolant will vaporize, and grow into a hottER spot, raising the coolant temperature in general. In high speed water pumps..same thing. More pressure in the system will fight cavitation around the pump blades and you wont lose as much pump efficiency.
Things like redline water wetter help prevent this as well, and I recall a long time ago the MR2 club did testing in the heat of Texas with higher pressure caps and counting knock instances, and it made differences.
Of course, a few tablespoons of tide detergent in the cooling system does the same thing, just way cheaper. All of those 'water wetter' products are just simply..soap. And no, it doesnt foam. At about 100d tide, water wetter, etc..all stop foaming no matter how hard you shake them, its in their design.
No..I dont use tide in my 8, but I do in all of my racer 7's.
SO..will a higher PSI cap help? Perhaps..depends what your cooling issues are in the first place, IMHO, its a bandaid to what is causing the cooling system stress in the first place.
