accidently added too much oil

hi, i was topping off my oil today
because i been carelessly to do so in the summer
using castrol synthetic, i accidently added too much
anyway afterwards my 8 started getting really shaky
after parking it and getting my new insurance, i started it up again
and black smoke started filling up the parking lot, i drove it home
but it was pretty much dying on me the whole way there.
any suggestions on what i can do

it wasnt ur oil doing that, a lot of us add extra oil (if you didnt know, rotaries burn oil as a living) so with in time itll just burn off, and youll end up putting more in depending on how you drive...

hmmmm what year is your car? how many miles? when was the last time you had it maintained, or maintained it yourself (besides oil)?

Aye ...

black smoke ... not good.

Did u fill it "ALL THE WAY" up your filler tube or something?

Drain it right away.

Take the Intake apart see if U can find any oil. if you found A LOT of oil, even on your throttle body. holy crap. You need to take everything out to clean it. Including Thorttle Body, UIM And LIM.

Well, are you sure you overfilled your oil?

cuz black smoke COULD MEAN your engine's oil seals are shot ... so ...

Just check your oil level and intake tubes first.

I've overfilled before but the smoke came out blue not black. It was enough to fog the whole side of a mountain and make me (and everyone behind me) think I just blew my motor.

Drain the oil and replace it. Clean the intake parts and perhaps do a de-carb.
