Hey I have a question. I shifted from 3rd to 2nd by accident at redline and was well past the cut off. I was going around 80. Is their a potential problem or did the engine cut off to not hurt it. Which is what i hope happened.

ok I just wanted to make sure. I just felt that it wasnt healthy to be going 80 or more into 2nd gear

^It's really not healthy but the engine can handle it to an extent. It's your trans and diff that will suffer the most. I've seen engines and trans pop on track by missing a shift and topping over 10k rpm.

I take it the motor started right back up?

Worst case scenario I guess might be detenation on a stock ignition system... Which could lead to a blown apex seal, but if you are still up and running with no problem, I would rule that out.

I am guessing that the engine shut off because the ignition system couldnt keep up with the RPM's. But that is just a guess. Like said before, trans would be the most likely to have suffered anything.

The car actually didnt shut off. I way just saying it was past the fuel cut off. But yes i drove the car about 10 more miles to the closest gas station and then i got gas and it started right back up with no hesitation.
