Just got off the phone with Mazda corp via the 1800 number, the guy told me the warranty started before the car was sold because it might have been used as a demo car.. WTF? So someone can buy a NEW car and not get their full warranty?

Smelling fuel? Replace coils/plugs/wires, inspect fuel lines, gas tank, fuel pump area for leaks.

Whoever told you to kill the car at high rpm's is not a good source of information.

Just drive it normally, it's ok to putt-putt around town all week as long as you run the hell out of it on the weekend. Don't be scared of getting it up to high rpm's on a spirited drive, it's actually exhilirating. Let the car warm up before shutting it off, especially during cold weather.

Has it ever had a carbon cleaning? That should be on your list somewhere. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-mazda-zoom-power-engine-cleaner-engine-cleaning-seaform-142852/ Cheap and easy once you get the eccentric shaft sensor unplugged

Another good thread. https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-forum-197/congratulations-you-got-8-a-202548/

If there's a small problem it can snowball into a big one (fouled coils leads to unburnt gas frying your cat). I recently got my 8 too, so I did all the routine maintenance just to know what was done and when. Once you fix all the small, relatively cheap things, see how your car runs and figure it out from there.

if the company titled it first then yes, the first "buyer" will be the 2nd owner.

Hmm, you should say well can you do it at good will? act all innocent and poor and start making stuff up about families going to hate Mazda if this doesn't work blah blah blah.

if at the end of the day it still doesn't work then ... you can either sell the car , or decrab it urself see if it would come back to life, or prepare to get another engine from either Mazda for cheap but might not be reliable or get it from places like Mazmart that's 100% good stuff.

Put some premix into your gas, see if it helps with your engine.

in your case, 8 to 12oz + Tankful of gas, it should be able to let your engine run for a little longer ...

the warranty is over? by how "long" ? if it's just a month or so you might be able to beg Mazda and see if they would cover at least some of the cost. it has happened, so try your luck.
Sadly, I tried that. Mine had expired 11days ago and they said they couldnt help because its a federal warranty. Mazda doesnt have a say in whether or not to do it since the gov't pays them to order the part =/
