1jz-gte

hey so did a search but i couldnt find anything, also i know the rotary is what makes the rx8 so dirrrrty but still i am jsut wondering so first off, how much money do you guys think it would cost to buy the 1jz-gte, and pay for installation and also would it really mess up the weight that much cause its only a 2.5, so that and jsut some general thoughts on it would be appriciated

This would be a huge undertaking. Not worth it IMO when you could put in a Single Turbo 13B-REW from an FD instead.

1jz with 5spd runs for about 2000-2500. You can run it off stock computer till about 500rwhp and then you need a piggyback. So figure another 1000 there. Custom made driveshaft, engine mounts, and transmission mounts from a shop would run probably 1500-3000.

For a shop to do it, you are probably looking at 10K-15K easily.

Fail. A 1jz in this car WILL make it dirty.

yes. In a lot of people opinions the FD3S engine is alot more reliable when you want to make some serious power.

The 13BREW had it's issues but most have been dealt with and it is heavily supported by the aftermarket. Search here, there is one very sick VR Rx8 with a full REW swap.

His last activity on the site was in 2010, so don't expect a response from him.

Also the reason they don't give you a full step by step guide is they paid someone to do it. If you need the step by step guide, then you will probably be paying someone else to do it as well. I am sure there are 1jz rx7's, if you just want to see how someone would swap in that engine then look on rx7club.com as well just for a reference to how they could get it to run.

Two threads I found, and I know there are more. One is for a 2jz though.
