UK 13b engine (2006 Compatible with my 2004?)

hi all
im a newbie here and need some advice
my 2004 has the hot start problem and ive been offered a 2006 13B engine
would this be a straight swap or will i have problems
thanks in advance for anny help

As far as I know, there is no difference (in the core engine) between any between 2003 - 2008 engines. The thing you will have to look for is whether, it is a 4port or 6port engine.

and i wouldn't just toss the engine without at least getting some tests done on the compression.

If they are both 6 port engines then they will be directly swappable, no extra work.

If you have a 4-port, then there will be extensive and expensive work to get the 6 port engine to work.

OP, I would suggest getting a compression test on the 2006 motor before you fit it.

hiya
sorry people i didnt realise there was a difference between
usa and scotland for these cars
mines is a 231 and cuts out after warming up ive changed the crank sensor and upgraded the starter as it wont start when hot but i cant afford to keep guessing
so thought about buying the other engine and having them swapped
also my car passed hot compresion test
thanks to all whove advised
