I'll go look at the schematic/wiring diagram and see what I can tell. You sure about checking all the fuses and they are good?
The thing that really bugs me here is you say that your cell phone does light up when in there but doesn't charge. It's almost like you lost a ground somewhere.....however, the cell phone might be smart enough just to recognize that the adapter is in use and plugged in, that still doesn't mean you actually have a connection and current flowing.
You don't have or no somebody with a multi-meter do you? this way you could actually see if 12v was getting to both sites. Now that I say that.....what's the likely hood that both sites would go down together unless it is a fuse? Hang on a few.......I'll be writing back!

Okay................here's the deal on the fuses.

The main fuse for the lighter, Accessory socket, power control mirror, and the audio system is under the hood in position #8 and is a 30A fuse.
But............if your audio works, then this can't be it. Check and see. If radio also doesn't work then go after #8 in engine bay. There are two 30A side by side on the left hand side, you want the one on the right.

If any of the above are working then it's time to look at the fuses on the drivers side panel inside the car.
So they are NOT on the same fuse inside tha car, but are under the hood........make sense?
Position #1 is the lighter at 15A and is at the top left(and horizontal)
Position #3 is the Accessory socket at 20A
All the ones one the right here(running vertical) are spares!

Now......................how's about a golf lesson! I know you got a card!

Re-read above post as I did edit it. However.......given what you say now, this is where my missing or loose ground may come into play.
There is one more possibility, so I want you to try this:
Check the cigarette lighter fuse and if it is blown....replace it and try with the lighhter.....do not use the cell phone adapter. See where I'm going with this? It could be possible that you blew both those fuses when you tried to charge your cell phone and used on one jack then the next. The issue could very well be with the cell phone and or adapter. Was that the sequence of events? You tried to charge cell phone in cig and no go, then tried acc adapter and no go? Is this a new cell adapter? Even if not new and have used it before, it could still be bad, that's why I want you to try the lighter first.....if the fuse does turn out to be bad, you replace and cig lighther works, then you may blow it again if you try your cell adapter.
With these fuses, you can usually visually see that they are blown once you take them out and look at them.

Good luck!

Just so you know....it's highly unlikely you have a grounding issue. I would have to bet that the cell phone took out both fuses. BTW......the radio is on #2 inside, so if it works......we know it can't be the one in the engine bay. So it SHOULD be both #1 and #3 on the inside.

I'm thinking...............this might take awhile, so I'll try to get back with you in the AM. You have nothing else that works off of 12V to plug in there and try do you? Cause I'd really like to know if 12V is getting there. Without a meter it's kinda tough unless you either got something else, or wanna stick you tongue in there! (that's a joke....don't do that!)
And..................you've done absolutely nothing to the car lately right? No additions or subtractions? No mods....no matter where or how small?

ok so i got a test light...i stuck it in to both outlets...it blew a fuse on both of them...the light lit up and then the fuse blew...so i replaced the fuses with the appropriately amped fuses...then tested the connector on the back of the outlet...there are two connectors that go into the cig. lighter...on the smaller one..nothing lit up and on the big one...only the one in the picture with the test light pointing at lit up...sorry for the poor quality...used my cell phone to make it faster

Hope you have put it all back together and if you have, then I want you to go and turn the key on again to ACC, and try to use your outside power mirrors. If they do not work I wanna know. We are getting close depending on that answer.

EDIT : Recieved PM, glad issue is over or at least solved for now!

Dave
