I dont know if this has already been addressed in the forums I checked and didnt see anything related. I recently noticed on another website thread somebody talking about at 10,000 miles the computer lifts the 'break in' retriction and resets to 250hp, i,m thinking this is total BS but just needed conformation on this. Is there is any truth to this claim?

after the car break in @ around 30,000 miles, the car will be a little faster. but this isn't because of any computer thing.

answer to your question: no, but it'll get faster after around 30,000miles.

Yea read about this in C&D, their car go faster the more miles they put on it, which I found interesting. I guess the rotary needs a while to loosen up.

there was a switch over on a previous RX-7 that changed power output. but it had to be done by the dealer during a service. that is where the rumour comes from.

I remember when I broke my car in I had faster times, it came at around 35K miles.
But I never heard of a brake in at 10K that is crazy.

 

I'm wondering if this doesn't stem from people bringing their J ECU vehicles in for service around 10k miles and having the ECU updated. That would give you the boost people say they're getting.
