this morrning when i started my car it ran really rough, than the check engine light came on shortly after that a light that looks like a steering wheel with a ! behind it came on. can anyone explain my problem?

 

Could be quite a few things, we need more info like service history and mileage.
YOu need to go get the code read and come back here to either search for the answer or post what code is being thrown. The light you point out that came on after the CEL is the Brake System Warning Light from what you describe. If the exclamation symbol is beside the sterring wheel looking thing then it's the Power Steering Malfunction Indicator Light.
Have you checked your brake fluid level?
Did you have the parking brake on?
If it is the power steering indicator, then have you had a recent over heating episode? Most times some overflow gets onto the connector down below the overflow hose and wets the connector. Eventually crud builds up and can cause improper connection.


We still need far more data as to not just start throwing things out at you!!!!!

did you get gas recently....mileage of the car?...when were coils changed/plugs last?

 

The steering wheel with a ! is the "Power Steering Malfunction Indicator Light". Reseting the steering angle sensor may get rid of it. As for the CEL, get the code read and get back to us.
