As anyone else have to get a new automatic transmission installed or am i the only one? My AT was coming on so i took it to the transmission shop is i am out of warranty and my tranny was burnt and falling apart. I really didnt want to spend the money on a new tranny but i upgraded. I didnt want them to rebuild the stock tranny due to failure again. The new tranny will be able to take anything i throw at it plus a 3yr 50k warranty. i get the car back this week. I will let you guys now how it is.

 

I believe your the first to venture outside of the stock tranny. If it works you could possibly be starting a new wave of mods for us AT owners. I thought that our luvly ECU though controled everything including shift points in the transmission. Best/worst case senerio would be to me atleast is that your stuck using the "sport mode" all the time. Definatly keep us updated though!!!!

 

I got the car back and since it was raining hard i couldn't test out the new tranny fully. One dyno run = 25 1/4 mile runs so keep that in mind, thats why my tranny was toast

 

Well nothing was custom made and the rx8 tranny is mostly a ford tranny. The new tranny can handle up to 1000hp and can take a beating. I got it done at Level Ten

I had to get a new differential! at 13,000 miles! I think my trans is messed up to though because when I shift in to gear (D or R) I hear a clank like the trans is loose and is hitting when it is catching the gear. Any one else get this noise?

 

so out of the 3 of us that had tuning only slicks car was the only one that didnt need work after..


i dont feel so bad now.

 

You must of misunderstood me i said it was mostly a ford transmission not a ford transmission. Level Ten also hooked me up with a sweet torque converter. Charles you must cocky to say the Hughes tranny will blow the level ten away when you dont even know what they did. And with the dyno its not hard on the car or engine its hard on the tranny

 

before you go calling Charles cocky, I'm not really convinced that you (invasion08) knew what Level10 did either

 

Your right i dont know every little thing they did. I know i got a performance transmssion with a new torque converter. And the 2000+ hp doesnt concern me do to the fact i am not drag racing. This is a daily driven car and the car will never see 300hp.... Also how much will the hughes transmission be installed? And what type of warranty do you get?

 

And they call it a "Slushbox"

I am going to level ten tomorrow and see what performance transmssion and torque converter they installed. I do know from a standing still take off the car pulls more off the line

I just wish to know if the shift points changed? And if so what speeds are your new redlines at? Is 4th gear with new transmission actualy usable or is it still the same ole cruise/dead gear?

Just some questioned I figure are legit ones to ask.

He does not care about HP, because he will not drag race, plus its a daily driver.

After that, he went on to the Dyno, and KaBooooOOmmm

Then he got a frankenstien new tranny that can handle 1000 hp.

Said will report back, but it has been more than 5 days since we last heard from him.
