New Member...
Hey everyone im a new member here and i just wanted to drop by this forum first to say hello to everyone seeing as i drive an automatic. I have a '04 4AT..it's Titanium Gray and about 43k miles. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and only paid about 14k before financing. It has the sports package and leather interior as well as the boss system. Im 20 years old i live in Hialeah, Fl(which is in miami). So far the car is stock the first thing im working on purchasing is an intake?. That's where you guys come in. I need help deciding which one to buy, i was thinking of the hks suction kit but it's way expensive so im leaning towards a KN short ram or an intake that i have not hear of it's supposed to be carbon fiber and the name is um-nitza. I searched it on youtube and i sounds amazing. Im not expecting a huge increase of horse power i just want a nice intake for a good price. Thanks for your time

Wow..it only took 4 post for someone to tell me to trade it in for a manual..lol..no it's cool i rather keep mine...i should be starting in the police academy within this upcoming year..so when i graduated i'll trade it in the buy a MT..that's y im gonna keep mine for a little bit of time...i want to do simple upgrades, intake, exhaust, etc. But not go to over board if i know that possibly by next year im gonna get another one. For now i want 2 concentrate on the intake, also i have the 18's that came from mazda and im thinking of painting the stocks.

Ok i have narrowed it down between the KN typhoon intake and the Racing Beat Intake. Will the price difference between these two intakes really make a difference. I was also thinking of purchasing a Umnitza carbon fiber intake but i read in a previous post from earlier this year that the fellow member had problem loosing hp due to the filter in the intake. Again sorry for all the ?'s i have about the intake i just dont wish to spend the money and not be satisfied. I know there might be some of you that have the racing beat and the typhoon but if anyone has one both i would like to get their opinion first hand?. Thanks again.

I dont know if you guys have heard this b4 but when i was considering the typhoon intake it says it will fit the 04 model except EU..do you guys know what EU means? Sorry if it's a stupid question.

Welcome to the forums!
Intakes i would chose from are MS (AEM makes them i think), or racing beat.
MS gives it a tuner/nice look, while racing beat gives it the stock look.
Gains are probably the same either way.

Extraordinary Engineering
AEM on Ebay is much cheaper than the RB unit
I like the RB unit but is it worth that much more. BTW, I have no connection to the Ebay vendor and my intake is stock

You must be about 13 years old cuz your questions on previous posts sound like a teen in puberty. I sure wish the mods would take notice and just move you to the lounge and out of the at threads.
Dominicano, welcome to the at threads and congratulations on your purchase. I wish you many fun filled hours of driving joy. Modding the 8 will just draw you closer to it.

Phil 8..Thanks for wishing me good luck on my puchase and i cant wait 2 start modding it..although it's stock now im gonna see if i could put pics up of it..just every pic i take on my phone looks like crap and i dont have a digital camera im still deciding which one 2 buy...and about the other driver no 2 sound like an ******* but i think your right...that's the reason we have our own threads so that we dont have 2 deal with the crap of the MT drivers..telling us to trade our cars in..

I'll snap his neck.
Might want to look into the stock airbox mod. I think the posts on it are in the tech section. Maybe DIY. From what I understand it gives about the same gains as an intake and is free. Might change the sound a little bit too, especially if you are running the stock exhaust.

If I were you I would consider your first mods to be preparation for the future and protective to your investment. We were only given one oil cooler from the factory and desperately need two (the mt has two), the radiator and it's tranny cooler are very sub-par and at the very least a tranny cooler should be added. I removed my after market tranny cooler and radiator recently and elected to install a Black Halo at radiator with it's added attention of a real working tranny cooler, in my at 8. Our cars overheat easily and the added protection of additional cooling is necessary for long life.
The upgrade of your suspension should also be considered as some mods will put a strain on the factory suspension (Mazda did a good job here but improvements do not hurt).
Have fun

You can get a tranny cooler anywhere at several different prices. Try Summit Racing for an economical cooler. My aftermarket cooler was installed by the dealer and he charged me $200.00 for installing it. You live in FL and there are several good rotary mechanics in FL including Pettit. Might ask them how much to install (it's not that difficult but I understand I had problems working on mine at first to). The two hardest things are the first time removal of the front bumper and figuring out a location to mount the sucker (keep it in the air flow). Since your keeping the stock radiator do not put it in front of it as it already has an air flow problem.
