mmmm , ok so $1600 is a little expensive for a diffrent rear-end gear. But if I didn't get the turbo, that was next on the list to do.

Mark,
have you changed the gear oil on the diff yet? If so were there wear particles on the mag-bolt?

No, haven't changed it yet. Paul told me I didn't need to change it out right away, just to follow a regular 30K interval (unless I remember it incorrectly). Considering how picky Mr. Engman was when he was building it (he was unsatisfied with the tolerances on the gear, so he did some additional machining work on it), I figure I'm ok.

I did almost cry a few days ago when looking through a parts catalog and seeing how cheap mustang rear gear and pinion sets were...

My basic thoughts on the gear swap are this: if you want to stay NA, it is a worthwhile mod. If you plan on going FI, I would skip the rear gear. Not that they aren't compatible, just that FI will give you more acceleration per dollar. And I don't know that the change will be that noticeable on top of FI gains. Maybe I'm wrong.

I guess really the only way to know is for someone to go FI first and then add the gear. Dave, you want to volunteer? You'd better - someday I'll probably be FI, and then I'll be the one talking trash while playing halo...

(For those of you that don't understand this reference, we were playing halo online one day, and I told Dave how suprised I was by how quickly he died that last round. He replied, "yeah, well my car has a turbo." I felt so ashamed and inadequate...

Rofl ! and my controller was set @ 3. setting @ 5 is much better. I die half as quick now..

If I could use the money I make, the 8 would already have the 4.77 gear. I think this setup would be best for the 4 port FI's AT's that Auto-X. I know of no one that has this configuation atm. Did you do a before and after time comparrision?
I don't remember.

i was thinking of just buying the ring and pinion and going that route and save a few bucks.

155 or 160 for an MT? Never heard that, always heard it was 170-185 whp.
