My 4AT dyno results (Mustang Dyno)

I met a local (importshowoff84) a few weeks back at the shop he is getting his Esmeril kit installed, and I decided I would get a dyno done on my car. Figure it would tell me where I'm at with the mods I have, and give me a baseline if/when I go FI in the future. I'm finally getting around to posting this.

Anyway, they just gave me a paper printout, and I don't have a scanner. But I'll post what I can here. You can see my sig for the mods that I have.

This was on a Mustang dyno. I was expecting closer to 130 whp, based on some of the other dynos I've seen here. So I was fairly pleased with 140. I'm guessing my little bit higher numbers can be attributed to the RP Supercat and the Mazmart water pump. And maybe a bit to the Mazdaspeed exhaust.

Max HP (with WCF): 140.1 at 7115 rpm (without WCF - 137)

Max Torque (with WCF): 120.8 at 5298 rpm (without WCF - 118)

Ambient Temp - uppper 60s F

Humidity - mid 50s.

Mileage - just under 20K

"Filter Mode": FIR

"Filter Value": 50

Looks like my average AFR is about 12.6 (first run average 12.0, second run 13.2).

They stopped the pull at 7200 rpm. I'm guessing because it looks like it was starting to fall off a bit. Makes sense since stock peak power is 7200, so mine would likely be a little lower due to the 4.77 gear.

Power curve is pretty typical. It does drop off a bit from 5500 to 5800. Not sure why that is.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Anybody know of a good, reliable driveline loss figure for the 4AT? Would be good to get an idea of what I actually have at the crank.

No bad #'s. That seems to be what most AT/s on Mustangs dyno @.
WCF = ?

AS for the drive line losses, I say between 18 -21 % Driveline loss. I will venture to say that a better At fluid will provide better results..

Those are some sweet numbers not bad at all im definatly getting one of those supercats lol and a b&b exhaust (mazdaspeed is sweet too) from what iv'e read and seen the b&b exhaust from vivid is the best exhaust for our cars 15 hp to the wheels. which is beautiful coming from an exhaust. so combined with the supercat that should be about 20whp

I believe WCF is "weather correction factor", but I'm not positive on that.

Anybody know how to convert the results of a mustang dyno to SAE numbers? Would just be curious to see how close I am to Mazda's advertised figure of 197 hp.

Assuming a 20% driveline loss, that puts me at roughly 170 hp on the mustang dyno at the crank.

The Mustangs are notoriously low, relative to some other brands.

MDW - i believe 20% driveline loss is pretty accurate - your 8 ran some really good numbers! congrats! - out of curiousity, did you pull the dcs fuse?

^it's nothing really - i just read it once on this forum stating it was suggested whenever doing dyno runs - dcs effects the wheel spin and even if disengaged with the button it supposedly still had an effect on the numbers - i haven't found the thread it was posted in so i was just wondering if anybody else had tried this -

personally, on my next dyno run - i'm pulling it just to make sure

I wish my numbers were that good. The last ime I was on a Mustang Dyno I had a bad L1 coil and she pulled 138 HP. Now the Dynapack Dyno is only showing 128HP. And they say the Mustang reads low.

That's weird, Easy. I was reading some of your dyno stuff, was pulling for you (pun intended

Wonder what you would have pulled on the mustang with all good coils?

lilring - I most likely won't be able to make it to the June 7th dyno day. My dad and my father-in-law both have birthdays that weekend.

Anybody have any thoughts on why my power curve drops off a bit from 5500 to 5800?

I got the gear from lazi (he was at JonDemand at the time, he is somewhere else now). I had it shipped to Mazmart who built the diff for me, and I did a core swap with them. If I remember correctly, all in all in ran me about 1600 bucks including shipping charges. However, this was almost a year ago, so i'm sure the prices have gone up.

I think mazdaparts.com or one of the other forum vendors also has the gear available.

1600 seems expensive just for the 4.77, x 2 can get the turbo.

Yeah, it wasn't cheap. The worst part was the gear, it was about 700 bucks.
