Anything with forced induction can have low end. Remove the turbos from that 3 rotor and it's torque is still limited by displacement.

I've had my 2005 RX-8 GT AT for 3-4 months now. I have noticed a great improvement since the ECU re-flash over the past 5k miles.

Right now I can pull from 1st at 4k rpm's to past the 7500 by about 200 rpm and then shift at second and end up at like 4500 again. so my 1st pulls to 49 and my 2nd pulls to ~82, and my third pulls to 130+

I don't quite understand it but i cant complain. My timed 0-60 when I first bought it was 7.5 seconds. Now I would say as good as 7 or maybe lower.

 

Torque....to be honest...i dont think this car knows what it is, my last car, srt-4, i knew the rx8 was giong to be a wee bit slower, but wow! was i suprised....the srt 0-60, 4.9 (i was not stock) the rx8, 1 min maybe 2...i love the way the car looks, handles the driving experience is great! but wow!! there i no power at all from it...i agree, displacement is lack there of, and forced induction, but the motor makes alot the power for its size...i guess the weight of the car is a huge factor, and a lil snail that im missing....sorry to mess with ur thread, just had to say a few things...

 

Meh, I think each cars different. Mine is completely stock and if I just lead-in the throttle I'm at 4500 rpm at ~34-35 mph before I know it.
