I bought a brand new 2007 model RX8. (4 speed auto)
Iam in New Zealand and jus was wandering how much horsepower it produces?

if yours has a 6 six speed auto then it has 212hp and the 4 speed auto has 197

So Mazda-NZ are not selling the 6AT version yet either.

The **** retards at Mazda Australia are saying the 6AT version is coming here but nothing to date now 10 months since it was announced in Japan.

Although I am not into the 19th century HP figures, there are a few things you can do to upgrade the power of the engine.

Knightsports do an ECU "re-flash" to suit the 4AT version that should bring your 141kw up to around 156kw for less $$ than you think. Contact REVS in Adelaide for the deal.

Have done this as the 1st mod to my 4AT version here in SYD & think it was money well spent too. Side bonus is better fuel consumption too.

The 4 speed auto output depends on where you live. In Japan, the 4 speed auto was rated at 210HP, while in the U.S. it was 197HP (the difference appears to be due to emission laws).

A couple of Japanese tuners advertise they can get at least an additional 10HP. You can see because of the difference in emissions laws, how pro-tuners can find at least 10HP (if not more) in an ECU tweak. It is believed mazda "tweaked" the ECU to pass the emission laws in various places and thus the HP numbers were lower.
