Greddy turbo... please dont beat me up
As the title states... please dont beat me up. I just have a generalized question that probably has been answered before. What does it take to have a Greddy turbo (all of them say only for 6MT) converted for the 4AT?

In all seriousness, seeing how this gets asked so often, and is actually a very good question... I'm suprised none of the prior threads have been stickied.

Here are some threads to read on the turbo / auto issue.

It would work, but would need tuning.
The updated Greddy kit has an intake blocking plate you're supposed to install - making the 6 port into a 4 port. Since your automatic is already 4 port, you're going to be on similar ground.

My understanding is it can be done for the 4AT
The problem is the COST versus the HP GAIN for the Greddy. The Mazsport turbo kit (Mazsport's kit should defintely give you the HP) or Pettit supercharger might be the way to go.
Waiting for all these new kits to finally get released is a killer.

Automatic or not, you still need to get it tuned, so your costs would be close to that of the MT version of the car.
I'm not sure what year automatic you have, but I'd expect to see similar gains to the MT with the same turbo kit. So your AT would be faster than a stock MT RX-8, but still less than that of a turboed MT since you started off with less power (and lower redline)
Far as is the gains worth it - you're getting similar gains to the MT, so the answer would be the same as with the MT. Do you think ~6k investment is worth the ~80 whp gains on your car?

From what I know, superchargers would not give you "better" gains or more HP. Going Turbo would usually give you a higher HP number, but it still depends on the kit.
Superchargers would be arguably "better" with giving boost at lower rpms and no lag. This might translate into faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. But, people would still need to put up the numbers for their kit to prove it. The other argument point would be superchargers are easier to put on and maintain.

I mean i would rather buy a 6mt, and have the same power.

Same peak power. Vastly different average power.

Physically, the GReddy kit will fit the AT just like the MT, AFAIK.
However, the total injector volume is lower, so you will be saddled with lower boost.
The EMU harness that comes with the newer kits and the EMU upgrade kit will plug right in and the MT-specific wiring will simply not go anywhere.
