I'm just really happy I didn't get schooled nearly as badly as I thought. He didn't launch once, but I figured I'd be smoked once he laid into his turbo. Wrong! I"ll still get beat, but I'm impressed!

MazdaManiac 06-22-2008 01:58 PM

There is no way you can even get close to WRX performance in an NA A/T at that altitude.

exsequor 06-22-2008 02:05 PM

well then he sucked at driving cuz I expected to get smoked. The car does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds if properly launched. What I'm saying is that each of the few times we went from a stop, he'd let me roll up to my throttle point a little bit, and then bam we'd go at it. Like I said he'd pull past me. I was just suprised how close I could stay behind...

exsequor 06-22-2008 02:07 PM

I'm not an exaggerator or a dumbass! I swear! lmao

Plus I didn't say I won. Of course not. I expected not to. I was posting about how thoroughly I could pull on his ass

exsequor 09-16-2008 11:19 AM

Haha. I don't even know why I posted that.

Anyways...
I plan on purchasing Cobb AP for the AT and am wondering if anyone around here is planning on selling a used one? Also I would like to know how I could obtain the tuning maps that some of you used. I would be willing to pay for them. I know next to nothing about actually tuning my car, so I would need assistance, but I'm not stupid. I'm just looking for 10-20 whp gains with an increased redline and more efficient tuning ?

quazmosis 09-16-2008 11:23 AM

Try the For sale section. I see them from time to time. As for the other maps, that you'd have to go to Mazdamanic for them. And for a price I believe. You may want to make sure he's ok with you buying used first though.

Atilla 09-16-2008 12:50 PM

dude...

just go to mazdamaniac.com and pick one up - it's cheaper than buying a used one then getting his maps - just buy one straight from him with his maps already loaded...

laulongfei 09-16-2008 03:25 PM

hey every1 i have a question too. i am planning to buy one at mazdamaniac, but i am planning to have install the turbo next month, so should i get the NA cobb first or just get FI cobb? can I interchange it later or they both in the cobb?

NONO! There is no NA Cobb or FI Cobb. They're both the same thing, however its the maps that you're going to need that are FI. To answer your question yes you can purchase the Cobb first, but then afterwards your going to need to buy the turbo maps to load onto the device.

Atilla 09-16-2008 04:22 PM

Come on guys

the answers are out there.

Damn that is totally where I'm going to buy it then. How hard is it to reflash the ECU with his maps?

So i haven't been on here in a while and was reading through this thread, catching up on things.

So does anyone with a NA 4-port have any numbers on the HP increase?

Phil's 8 02-12-2009 07:27 AM

I think a course in remedial reading 101 is in order. If you back up in this thread and you can read, you will find several answers to your questions. More answers are in the main Cobb thread.

Atilla 02-12-2009 10:09 AM

once again....

Thanks. Like I said, I read this thread before I posted. There was talk about putting an NA AT-4 with the AP on the dyno, but unless I completely missed it, I didn't see any result from that.

I'm sure the cobb main thread has some useful info in it, but its ungodly in length and filled with more useless conversation than info. Yes I have tried browsing through it. No I have not finished looking through all of it. Its too damn long.

So I guess I'll rephrase my question:
If theres someone who happens to know, I'd appreciate it if you can TELL me what the HP increase is for an NA 4 port because I have not been able to find it? Thanks.

aren't you a little old to be spoon fed?

The Cobb AP neither promises or claims any increase in HP. I think ebay has your chip on sale today, it's cheaper than the AP and does claim added horsepower.

I know. Look, I'm not looking for HP claims, promised gains, resistors and fart cans. I just asked a question out of curiosity. I know the cobb isnt some super duper rice rocket computer chip thingy. However, I know the cobb reflashes the pcm with a new fuel map. I am assuming it will affect horsepower, whether it be in a positive or negative way. I understand that it can do many things and that not every fuel map will be tuned for some type of performance gain. I myself am interested in the AP to increase idle and eliminate vibrations. I'm on my second engine and yes the mounts were checked before they put the new one in.

I asked my question because I was wondering if someone here with an NA AT4 has tried to use it to tune for and experienced any positive hp gains. I'm not talking about performance gains or 0-60 or what have you. I'm talking about actual real measured numbers, whether it be 1hp between 5000 and 7000 rpm or whatever. Simple as that.

Thanks for your extremely useful input.

"Smart people speak because they have something to say, stupid people speak because they have to say something."

I'm not implying anything of course! Just a funny quote I heard somewhere. ;)
