I don't want to hijack yet another thread and yet again but;

The factory clutch pedal on the RX-8 is prone to breaking the 2 or 3 spot welds that hold the backing plate to the bracket assembly. With 50K+ miles on the vehicle, even factory clutches will experience this phenomenon and heavy duty pressure plates will accelerate said problem. My simple, bolt-in, bracket relieves these spot welds of much of the stress associated and will allow you to use heavy duty pressure plates without fear. I will also include a stronger clutch pushrod as those are prone to bending with heavy duty pressure plates, as well.

Chet, since you are at 32K miles, keep an eye(or a foot) out for the following;

1) Your clutch pedal begins to feel a little "mushy" and/or you seem to be grinding gears a bit when you shift.

2) Your pedal begins to squeak.

3) The pedal then starts to feel "clicky'

4) Shortly after all this, your pedal lets loose and you can't disengage the clutch

To check your pedal as it is take a flashlight and crawl under the driver's side of your dash. With your hand push down on your clutch pedal. Shining your flashlight on the backplate of the pedal assembly, which is against the firewall, look for any gaps opening up between the backplate and the bracket assembly. Look closely for the spot welds I mentioned as that is where the gaps will appear. It is those welds that squeak, creak, and snap.

As "Technical Director" of the FIATFBB club, you are allowed latitude in hijacking the thread to talk about products for the a/t but we must draw the line at products for the m/t.

How could I have missed this thread?
Pure "JACKING" going on here.

Ok I'll request and admission to this club. I have a Titanium 4 port AT. Is that close enough? It's just a darker silver. Right?

Titanium is not silver so that would not hold you back, but you lack one of the key ingredients that would make you eligible, you are not FI. The name of this ragtag group (and you would fit there) is "Forced Inducted Automatic Transmissioned Four Port Bastards".

Now in your defense you did assist in the installation of a super charger in the Presidents 4 port and I am sure that you have ridden in some turboed versions. You will have to apply to our Membership Chairman, Vice President & Cook, 09Factor (he turned down bottle washer as too low paying). I''m sure that with proper decorum he will consider your application with his usual dignity

you'll have to excuse my ignorance as i havent kept up with this thread since it got off page 1 but how did this turn into "forced induced" and who is el presidente with the s/c? I have a good handle on who the guy is that started this thread and he is fits neither of those descriptions.

You need read the entire thread - it got hijacked somewhere along the way and was duly noted with apologies to the original poster. When the gentleman that started the thread applies for membership, he will be voted a full member in lieu of FI. He plans FI so in his case we will make an exception, but alas we have not yet heard from him.

And you sir, have an AT??
