lol 2 year thread revival.

AT's are not really all that bad of cars. I could easily pull on my cousins old bolt on's Integra ls (Intake, header, exhaust,...) whenever we went out to the backcountry. My mods at that time being only K&N intake and weld on catback. It would be nice to go turbo though...but I dont know if its the right time for me just yet.

My banana turned 5 Feb 15th. It has spent more of its life turbo'd than not.

Also for longevity you guys should try this oil out.

Wink

alright been looking to post something on here for a while...i just bought my 05 AT Rx8 a few months back, and just recently decided yea im going to mod it...already know that im going for FI most likely a turbo kit...but thats going to be a later question, first big question is about the cobb accessort...now i read somewhere on the forums that getting the cobb and getting it tuned the right way will get rid of the rev limiter is that true? and is there any way you can either boost up the launch rpm or take it out completly? mine is set at around a estimated 2200 RPM I would either like to get that taken off or bumped up to at least 3500 or so...

I have learned alot from the forums and Im glad there is something like this around because I have alot more questions for everyone lol...

The transmission and the engine are two separate item and are controlled separately. Don't mix one with the other it don't work that way..........The Cobb AP is for the engine only. I believe that there are several threads that address that.....Use care when reading as some of the threads carry false or misleading information......

Does anyone know if the obx top feed fuel injection rail works? Is it worth the money? They are claiming 6-8 hp on the dyno.

I don't see why it would make the 6-8 hp. It's not providing any higher volume of fuel flow that's not already present with the OEM rail(s). So don't burn your hardearned cash.

Now what would get you more power would be higher fuel pressure at the injectors.

I'm going to try to find the SAE paper that talks about this topic.

Thumbs down

Im not very knowledgeable on the subject but i didnt see how they could achieve those numbers. Im trying to squeeze some good power out of my 8, but on this whole site everyone says n/a mods are useless and make no power. I was planning on doing header, pulleys, umnitza intake, tb spacer, and the fuel rail. Now im not so sure. I dont want to spend a ton of money and net only 10 hp. Might as well get a nos kit.

Yep, kinda sucks. mazda did a great job of extracting all the availble power out the first go around

Headers = 5 hp at best.
Pulleys = All Show and not much else
Umzita = sounds really nice, Again not much else
TB spacer = get the BHR one because it has ports for the NOS and fuel jets

i just want the crank pulley im pretty sure AP makes one thats around 80% lighter and 20% underdriven.

i know it slows down A/C and everything but would it be that bad since its only 20% underdriven?

ok well i'm a at 8 owener 4 spd and my mods so far and what i want to get and what i don't understand

k&n filter: ok
gutted cat: ok
hks high power: soon
intake: soon
petit sc: not sure (scared of blowing motor)
turbo: no (heard sc is more reliable)
mid pipe: confused (isn't it the same as gutted cat)
transmission build: no (waste if it cost the same as an sc)
custom gear: interested (would like to get more info on this)
oil coolers: confused (does aftermarket do anything different?)
pulleys: no (heard it was a waste of money)

Here's my thoughts:

k&n filter: ok
gutted cat: ok
hks high power: soon
intake: soon You got the K&N already, just go with the Racing Beat duct
petit sc: not sure (scared of blowing motor)Any type of FI raises the risk, a proper tune can significantly lower the risk
turbo: no (heard sc is more reliable) Not necessarily
mid pipe: confused (isn't it the same as gutted cat) D/R mid pipes will give a better sound and flow
transmission build: no (waste if it cost the same as an sc)
custom gear: interested (would like to get more info on this) I've thought about this as well, a smaller rear would give some more pick up, but you would sacrifice some top end
oil coolers: confused (does aftermarket do anything different?) Stay OEM check Mazmart for pricing
pulleys: no (heard it was a waste of money) Yes they are a waste, stock Pulley's are already light
