if you wanna make you 4AT 8 faster?
the best way is trade it to 6MT
I have the 04 4AT 8, tried all i could to make it faster, i've done everything except turbo/supercharger which i dont wanna **** up my engine.
I love the way it is, how it can take corners, i track my 8 a lot before, but it has a limit, rev limit, tranny limit, gear ratio problem, but i would still love to keep it,
so i end up buying a 5MT miata and have fun with it, swapped a 6MT in it recently,
and keep the 8 nice looking, show &daily

Thats cool but the title of the thread pretty much sums it up...
OP, you can swap to a 6 speed which I feel will be a PITA but has been done and there is a thread I believe on it. The other option would be to swap in a whole pull-out/ stock 6-speed MT 6 port from another 8 if you want to keep the renesis. Just remember these chassis belong in the corners. Do whatever you like as I'm sure the true potential of your car will never be reached.

i feel your pain dude i also have an 4 port and very close to saying screw it and trade it in for a 6spd until i saw this guy at the charleston track with a 4port turbo beating everybody with a ebay turbo kit he said only cost him around 2k to put everything on even tune. I only have around 400 more bucks to save up and i'll be able to get me one two. He's going to help me out with it so i'll let you know how it turns out.

Ebay turbo........idk man I am very curious as to how its holding up after 6 months......You get what you pay for and the cheap turns out expensive. If those ebay kits were really good, then everyone on here would have one.....Idk man good luck but buyer beware......

update on Dylan. the guy with the auto 4 port turbo. well he was on his 3rd tranny and 2nd motor until he eventually sold it to some old guy. my dreams crushed for this to happen but if i'm going to keep my 8 it has to have some kinda of power really thinking about doing a 2jz or sr20 swap ls1 is just to common here

Rotary Evolution
you didn't want to go that route anyways unless you had another $3k on top of that to replace the motor after it pops.
$2k is unrealistic for even the basic parts to do the job, that's not even counting a way of preventative maintenance(aka E85 or auxiliary injection and standalone or AP).
last turbo kit i pieced together totalled $6500, but that included my labor costs.

Seriously, all you can do is trade/buy a manual. I had an 04 A/T for 3 years. Had the motor rebuilt and a month later, someone clobbered me and totalled it. Bought the 6 speed MT and man what a difference! There really is no comparison.

Try driving in manual mode, it's a huge different just by doing it without spending money on any mods.
The auto mode will keep u under 4k rpm unless u go faster than 80mph, which totally limit the potential of rotary engine. By going manual mode, u got much more rpm to play around with.
No point in going into comparing AT vs MT, if you don't like AT just trade it in and get MT. Period.
AT vs MT comparison is just childish. MT has more potential due to it's mechanical design, fact, but not everyone out there has the skill to explore its full potential.
If you like your AT, work around it, and love it. There are numerous AT ppl out there loving their ride.

ls1 swap is common? You've obviously done your research. I have yet to see one completed yet. Closest one was totalled by falling off a lift.

All you have to do is spend $, lots of it. Get a turbo or a s/c, cobb ap and etc, etc.....................................Or since you most likly 16 years old and have no knowledge of cars, you could just sell it to someone that would appreciate it and buy yourself a Kia.

phil can you send me a list of what you have done and if you wts anything for your 4-port let me know. i really want to keep my 4-port but the lack of power is just not what i'm used to and everybody says sell it and i'm just about on the verge of doing so. maybe you can give me some advice on making this car fast without doing a swap or selling it.
