2005 AT question- midpipe,flames,etc

Hey I have a 05 AT 8 im currently running with a KN vr2 intake and B&B resonated midpipe and stock catback. I know, I shouldve went for the Manual, but the deal I got on this was incredible after I came back from Iraq so I jumped on it. Anyway, I know the rev limiter is around 7500 on this, and my only other difference with my exhaust is the B&B midpipe and 4 inch tips...

Should it be able to kick flames by heating it up and high reving it, or is the limiter/diameter of tips going to prevent me from getting any. Ive tried several times with 93 octane gas, and stayed up near the limiter then cutting it to get something, but without any success. Its not a big deal seeing flames, and the pipe/intake makes the car sound great and perform a tiny bit better....but this would def be a bonus. Any help???

Since most owners are inside their car while its running why is shooting flames a bonus? If its such a big deal put some spark plugs in the tips like those old dudes with the Lead Sleds.

come on man this doesnt have to turn into a thread of retarded comments.... its a question about a midpipe, if you have a knowledgable answer that would be great, if not...ignore the thread.

I've seen plenty of flames off an 8 - but only on midpided MT's on the track. Not saying others cant do it, but its the only time I've seen it.

The stock catback design keeps any flame produced inside of it.
The inlet tube is perforated and the exhaust tips, once inside of the can, bend in the shape of an "S".

If you really want to shoot flames, since you already have a catless midpipe you now need a much better flowing exhaust.

I had a midpipe on mine, and I never could shoot flames either. I had it in my head Ats can't shoot flames. Am I wrong? What causes cars to shoot flames out anyways? I've allways wondered that.

what would prevent an AT from doing it then? I get the pops pretty loud which means I have unburnt gas...maybe the rev limiter?

Why would you want flames anyways?... All you're doing is potentially ruining your exhaust and bumper.

I agree not being able to shoot flames is not bad thing. When I had my midpipe on I had soot all over the back of my car. Looked terrible. I thought burnt plastic back there would look even worse so I took the midpipe off.

I'm sure I'm probably wrong on the AT's not being able to do it. I'm not sure wheather they can or cant. I've allways thought they can't. Im not sure where I've got that from.

With the crappy stock ignition, you'd think people would be firing all sorts of flames out from unburnt gas.

Im not trying to get flames like a racer, or using spark plugs!!Thats not the point of this thread

The point is, I have a resonated midpipe, therefore no cat, and most 8's out there with similar setups have the ability to kick a few small blue flames when shifting or high reving. Back to my original question.. I take it its probably not possible for AT's because of the rev limiter??? People manage all the time with Manuals with a midpipe and stock catback so its hard to believe the answer would simply be because of the stock catback

Im more curious than anything...im not looking to put out flames everywhere i go, just wondering what makes my car/AT's different in that sense

I have an AT with B&B strait pie, i CAN shoot flames. They are only about 3-4 inches long anyway, its more of a flame pop. I just rev up to redline, let off too 5 grand then floor it. The exhaust will make a loud pop sound and you will most likely shoot flames out of both tips.
