180km/h Speed Cut?

HEY GUYS, I AM NEW HERE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS THERE ANY WAY TO DISABLE THE 180KM SPEED CUT IN AN AUTO TRANS RX-8? IS THERE ANYBODY WHO IS KIND ENOUGH TO SHARE THIS INFO WITH ME?

Are you hitting redline or does the power just decrease at 180km/h?

the fuel just cut off when the speed touch 179km/h or somewhere there. it's a safety feature for JDM's car to restrict us to go over the speed. i felt so annoying when overtook by any other junkie who mange to go over 180km/h.

Interesting. I don't have an automatic, so I didn't know if you reach redline by 180 km/h. I don't know why you would personally want to go any faster than that, other than the fact that you do some occasional autox.

your car should be a JDM version. In JDM version, either a MT or a AT car have 180km/hr speed limit. HKS has a defence to cut it. You can cut it by sending your ECU to aftermarket tuner like Rmagic, knightsports to cut it
However, in ohter sepc AT (US spec? or Euro? I'm not sure, at least AT in Taiwan) "might " have 200km/hr limit. HKS defencer can't sovle it because it make DSC and audio equipment out of order.
I also hope some guys help on this issue.

is your manual or auto? Speed shouldn't cut out at 185 with the manual.. won't tell you how i know though

EDIT: hehe, i just realized this is the AT forum.. i know the redline cut off on the AT's is just over 7k rpm.. It sounds like you are hitting the 7k

and about the s2k once we pass 100km you won't keep up with an S2000.. up till 100 it's neck and neck.. once they get past that their 3rd/4th gear are way stronger than us (best friend has an s2000)

When I hit WOT an red-line a few times I never experienced "the cut off", what should I be looking for?

Notice that AT car with DSC was not suitable for SLD. One of my friend once installed and proved it.

Here in Brunei, the SE3P chassis has DSC, the FE3P nil. Have your friend tried to turn the steering anti-clockwise??

Turning the steering anti-clockwise? Isn't that just part of the procedure to make the DSC operable once more after disabling it?

To turn off DSC: press dsc button for a few sec until DSC light came. Turning steering anti-clockwise while car is station: to reset the blinking DSC light. When u speeding more than 200kmh, the DSC light will come (not blinking), and a car indicator light will come out too (DSC engaged). So it's suck to speeding on corners while DSC is engaged becoz it's limiting ur speed while cornering. If u run a dyno test, make sure to turn off DSC first. Then u can go speeding without any hassle.

I have JDM Type S with 6MT and DSC... which type should I choose? Type III-Z3? Another brand available? I have installed the HKS SLD Type III-Z3 but it stops me reading information from the OBDII port, weird!

My 05AT cuts out at 7900-8000rpm when using paddle mode.

ECU flash. Re-amemiya, Knightsports, R-Magic can do it. The other option is wait for the Cobb Accessport to come out and then use that to flash the ECU.
