The leaks seem to be a major problem with this kit.

This guy was super meticulous and never got it sorted. It seems he finally just gave up and went back to stock.

There is just so many points of failure as far as leaks are concerned. The kit was well engineered, but some point over engineered to fit his design idea at the expense of practicality. But I will make it work.

9krpmrx8 08-09-2013 10:49 AM

Good luck man, we have some questions for the other guy but he lists no contact information. I'd like to know why he finally gave up.

I seem to have my boost and vacuum leaks under control.

I also rerouted my OMP vent pipe to the intake. Originally it was attached to the vacuum lines. I also added the honeycomb air straightener to the intake and the car is very civilised now.

I also have found that I have to keep an eye on the pod filter as it gets clogged quite easily. The first sign of this is a bit of a lag in response when you stab the throttle

WingleBeast 08-09-2013 11:59 PM

Any ideas on the pulley removal?

Marcos 08-10-2013 09:58 AM

Good to hear she is running somewhat, and new engine bay shots?

WingleBeast 08-11-2013 01:59 AM

Soon as I get home

I like the orange peices, thought I would post to subscribe

I'm with Fazdarx_8 have to subscribe. By the way how do you order this kit can't seem to find a website or post anywhere, that or I'm old and senile.

9krpmrx8 08-27-2013 11:12 PM

The company went under, it is no longer available. But my buddy is willing to sell a brand new kit uninstalled here locally if you are interested.

spokanerxdude 08-28-2013 09:44 AM

I'm mainly dreaming at this point but would like to know how much the kit would cost.

9krpmrx8 08-28-2013 10:10 AM

Well, it varies, but he would probably let it go for $5,000.00. He paid a lot more.

skc 08-28-2013 04:44 PM

I have been running this kit for over two years now with a few track days as well. Initially, I had a few oil leaks, boost and vacuum leaks however, these issues have now been resolved and it runs really well.

atl8 08-28-2013 08:15 PM

Can you post a vid of you hitting the gas hard from idle?
How about of your car coming back to idle from over 3-4K?
What about that bypass valve operation, are you sure you have that working correctly?
And the melted engine harness, how is that holding up?

I will look into getting a video done soon.

The bypass valve has been responsible for some of the erratic behaviour in the past, with my new spring the problem seems to have been resolved for now. However, as it is a mechanical device I will need to disassemble and clean occasionally.

The melted harness was replaced with a new harness and wrapped with a heat shield. It was also moved away from the hot supercharger unit to prevent a recurrence of the issue.

The only issue that remains unresolved is the stalling when idle drops higher rev range. I rarely stall now as I usually let the car come to a slow stop while in gear. If stopping suddenly then a slight tap to the throttle at around 2000 rpm keeps the car idling perfectly.

The idle issue is the only unresolved problem that I have.

WingleBeast 05-12-2014 11:06 PM

All resealed an in the car, running pretty well under MM base FI map. Hard to keep it out of boost.

All was well until I took it out for a data log and the pulley shaft cap worked its way off and the pulley key walked out of the shaft. This is all with red threadlock on the bolt.

Needless to say I am pissed. Plus incessant screech driving it home with the super pulley slipping. Need to go buy a new key tomorrow and figure a way to keep it mounted in the shaft untill I can get a new cap machined.

skc 05-13-2014 12:41 AM

Good to see it is running and also have someone else on this planet running the same system as me.

I have never had that problem on my system. Boost leaks has always been an issue due to fitment issues however it is all resolved now and idle a good 12 on the vacuum gauge. Car feels very powerful.

The only thing that needs a redesign is the bypass valve. I think getting rid of the flimsy brass plate in plunger with something more solid will help with boost/ vacuum transition as the valve seems to bind every now and then as bypass valve sits on the side and gravity causes it to scrape more on one side. Adding oil in the chamber helps sometimes.

At this stage a strong spring is helping. The spring needs to be short so the plunger has full range of movement allowing maximum boost.

I just don't want to ruin this pulley. I need to get down to Georgia by friday.

hoss -05 05-13-2014 10:56 AM

there were a few other people besides me (9krpmrx8s friend) that owned them in the united states. None of those people have kept in contact with me over the years and they are not here on the boards.

I went a different route with FI and am running a custom turbo set up. My hymee kit is up for sale to the right buyer. As you have come to know its not a super easy kit and has challenges, it just would not be a good set up for a guy that cannot do his own work.

Honestly this kit is driving my desire to make my own custom kit. Don't get me wrong; I love the size of the blower, potential power, FMIC. All things that pushed me towards this kit as opposed to the pettit.

However in hindsight Hymee created his own nightmare on pushing his design ideas. He wanted it a certain way as opposed to the practical way and the compromises are hard to chase down. For example the oil system has too many seals and joints to ever be sure of a 100% non-leak system. The drive shaft tube should have just been welded on there. There is no way to check or refill the oil level because he was deadset on sharing engine oil. The post-throttle and pre compressor plenum is too small. This led to all sorts of issues with the bypass system as SKC described. Not to mention the vacuum connections are just so close to the bypass there is all sorts of problems getting a working vacuum system. I had to install a separate vacuum manifold. The dogbone is just another example of depending on clearances and o-rings to seal oil and boost and as we know in an automotive setting clearances differ from one car to the next. Only fastened and gasket sealed should have been used.

The area where he really shined was using the front plate to anchor the system. It is sturdy and practical. It is just a shame the kit hit the market like this.

WingleBeast 05-14-2014 10:29 AM

Skc, how did you tension the ac belt? Mine keeps slipping

skc 05-14-2014 08:44 PM

I have not done the install myself. I dot the mechanic to replace the a/c belt recently as it was getting frayed. I assume that the a/c motor will have adjustment to loosen and tighten.

logalinipoo 05-14-2014 08:50 PM

is the tensioner pulley that's just above the crankshaft removed for the SC?
