Whatever happened to PTP?

So whatever happened with the Protech Performance turbo down here in Austin? Did the company go out of business?

They were so close to launching and then disapeared (sp)?

It was such a promising setup to =(

looks like you can still pre-order on their website (http://www.tuningmotorsports.com/pro...age=1&featured) But they did promise that they were planning on selling in August'06.

They are still here in Austin and in business. I stopped by the shop the other day on the way home from work and saw boxes of piping and manifolds. All work on the turbo kits are done and the piping just arrived that they had been waiting on. Jon said they are talking with Ryan about setting up vendor status so they can start selling the kits.

well, you can't have your cake and eat it too. IMO PTP jumped into this market with the same mentality that can be applied to cars that are much easier to modify. There's far more to making a marketable turbo kit than slapping on a manifold, snail, intercooler, piping, and a half-assed EMS and calling it a day at only $4000. Sure plently of people have done that, or had shops do it for them, but when you're selling a product as a business the rules change quite a bit.

its not that we approached the project incorrectly, granted we made our share of mistakes, but more the lack of massive amounts of money required to finish the project.... hence the time it took to get it all together

FYI, the Ebay listing says the kit will be available "sometime in 2007".

As far as I know they're still there and in business, I haven't stopped by their shop in a while (even though it's only 20 minutes away), but I did drive past it the other day (was just goin up Lamar), and I looked over and could still see their sign and everything
