only reason i haven't moved on the ExoticSpeed header and exhaust is i'm waiting for RB to release their header. so far, i'm very impressed with the ExoticSpeed parts. i guess i'm just a dinosaur and since i've been using RB parts since 1990 it's hard to not wait ...

You're absolutely right. I have no idea whether he'd want to do that or not. I meant that it might be ok to let him know then he can decide whether he wants to or not. If somebody lowballs him too much, I'd guess he'd tell the person to beat it, just as any of us would.

I'm guessing that if he, for example, sold 10 or 100 units of whatever to somebody on some kind of agreement that they would sell single units for a certain price, would be upset if the person started selling them too cheap, which would drive the price of his product down also. So I guess there is two ways to look at it and him and people that sell his products would probably want to work in harmony.

But you have to admit they do sound nice.

Not a bad choice to go with Borla.
Yeah the Borla almost follows the stock setup in pipe routing where the pipe enters the muffler.

I haven't heard the Borla yet but figure it probably has a more tolerable sound than a straight through 3" catless like I have. If you plan on staying N/A I would really consider the Borla, it was one of the first exhausts I considered. I only went with the Agency Power because I decided I would eventually put a turbo on and knew I would get more power from a straight setup.

Borla is only cat back though, Exotic and Agency are both Full exhausts for only about $75 more than the Borla and many other cat backs.

I just looked up the Exotic and it is almost the same exhaust as the Agency Power, the only difference I see is the tips are completely blue on the Exotic, I like how the Agency Powers fades into a blue like as if the heat caused it. BTW the Exotic is showing for about $100 more than the Agency's price.

I'm hoping the turbo quiets it down quit a bit... or at least changes the tone some.
I've reinstalled the stock cats until it comes time to put the turbo on, now it has a Porsche 911 type of tone

none of them because nobody is offering a manifold with a 3" outlet, going to be custom if you want 3" ALL THE WAY

The Exhaust spec. thread is reasonably accurate. I double checked them when looking.

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/exhaust-system-specs-34690/

In Japan, these exhausts were put into a head to head comparison. Greddy won, based on the reviewers combined opinion, but this was for NA.

However a strong case can be made for R-Magic (which I have), Revolution, or Borla (but this was not tested in Japan and it's weight is an issue like Racing Beats). The thing about the Revolution is I did not like the small tips.

A strong case can be made for the R-magic and it's 70mm pipe size (2.75in/3in?) allows it to work for both NA and FI. The problem for the R-Magic is price and a touch noisy at high rpms ( though it sounds really good from outside and coming down the block). The touch more quietness of the Greddy helped with Japanese reviewers. The R-Magic was 87db (R-Magic had it listed at 85db though) at peak vs the Greddy at 83db and the Autoexe at 80db. There are some really loud exhausts near the 90db limit. Ahhhh, don't do it, unless you are really into loud.

Something to think about is db. I think the stock exhaust is at 80 (maybe 81/82) and is very comfortable. Above 85 db can be annoying and you will notice the difference from stock. Really think before going above 85db.

Weight is another thing. A new exhaust is a nice way to shed pounds. Both the Greddy and R-Magic do a good job here. You will not get better unless you go titanium. The problem with titanium though is small pipe to muffler sizes (many at 60mm / 2.3 inches) and of course the expense.

Between the Greddy and R-Magic, is the price and db. You can get the Greddy at some nice discount prices. I lucked out in a dispute with the car dealer I bought my RX-8 from and they agreed to replace my exhaust, so they paid for 60% of the cost of my R-Magic replacement.

Interestingly, Hymee's exhaust has a similar design to the Greddy and R-Magic, so it's specs would be nice (though I think its db is similar to the R-Magic as its reported to be louder).

Also the Greddy pipe to muffler size might be 70mm now. I've seen it listed as 60mm and then 70mm. So it's best to contact Greddy and verify.

List of interest:

Note- 65mm is 2.5in. / 2.6 in. 70mm is 2.75in / 2.8in

Many people will list 70mm as 3inches or 65mm as 70mm (bumping up 2.5in to 2.75in). So there is a lot of "dancing around" between 2.5 inches to 3 inches.
