wtf is a Vortech supercharger?
The only 'mass produced' SC kits currently installed on RX-8's are Pettit and the new Hymee SC

link?
What are you using for fuel management? THAT right there will help answer your question whether this will be a dependable car. (at the moment I'm leaning towards NO)

vortech??? if the 8 was a mustang, that would be the perfect choice...

You may want to search around for the available S/C and T/C options there are for our cars.

Just a thought.

yeah, there isn't one for the 8, lol.

I'm sure we would've all known about it before this thread existed, if it was a kit for our cars.

it's not really the same...
procharger has a self contained oiling system
vortech taps into the oil pan

to answer your question:

yes a vortech supercharger will work fine. 6-8 psi shouldn't wont be a problem.
I'm running a rotrex at 6-8 and so there have been no worries.

Didn't they have a custom setup running a Vortech a few years back froma dealership in the Midwest ? I think it was Sunflower Mazda or something like that, but they wanted something insane like $60K-$70K for the car.

yeah it was sunflower. they ran it on a track once i think but they never really got their tuning squared away. I think they thought mazda would give them a access to the pcm which never happened

Hmmm, good luck with the install. Don't worry about all the haters. If you can fab then this maybe a very cost effective way of boosting.

If I recall correctly, Canzoomer was the designer of the Sunflower kit, using the Vortech centrifugal snail. I saw his prototypes, way back.

Last I heard he was sourcing some electric clutch units from Bosch, so it would cut out at low revs - same clutch used on a CLK.

Course that was 2005.......
